Find Out What Kind of Wedding Gown Suits You

Saturday, September 29th, 2007

By Amy Spade If images of white dresses are dancing in your head, then you must have been recently engaged. Of course, many women have had an image of their wedding in their head since the time they were born, but will the real life live up to your dream? Capturing a personality Although it may seem that all wedding dresses are alike, there are many ways to capture individual styles. White may be the traditional wedding gown color, but more brides are choosing off-white or a light cream as an alternative. This can show your fashion consciousness, while still remaining true to the traditional coloring. If youre a bit more vibrant and outgoing, you may want to do something daring at your wedding. This thought may be accentuated if you are looking to do a themed wedding as well. Try a different color altogether. Do something wild like red or purple. While they might not be the standards, they will definitely liven up a wedding photo. And if youre looking for a theme for your wedding, you will want to study related dresses to the time period or culture. If youre looking for something that is renaissance inspired, then you may want to look in costume shops for styles that can be turned into wedding gowns. Using your body type If youre looking for something that is flattering, then youre going to need to try on a lot of dresses before you do. But this is a good thing. Many times, brides find that their dream dress doesnt always look like the dream in their head. For women who are shorter in stature, you may want to select a gown with longer lines and seams. Although your high heels will help to create a taller look, the cleaner and simpler the dress, the more it will elongate you. You should pick something that doesnt have a lot of detailing because it may cause the eyes to look at one particular area rather than you as a whole image. For the taller woman who is looking to create a less lengthy style, you will want to find a dress with more detail toward the bottom of the dress. This helps to draw the eye away from the height. All in all, whatever dress makes you feel beautiful is the one that is right for you. So, dont let convention or tradition stand in the way of your dream. Short or long, detailed or not, your wedding dress should reflect everything that you are feeling on your wedding day. Make Small Eyes Look Great With These Makeup Tips

Thursday, September 27th, 2007

By Angela Page Emphasising your eyes is one of the most popular choices when it comes to accentuating a part of your face. If eyes are your best feature, it is important to know what to do to make them look even more striking. Have a browse through the makeup tips for small eyes below. - Frame your eyes with perfectly groomed eyebrows. If you have light colored hair, consider using a darker pencil to assist in shaping them. - Try using an eyeshadow which contrasts with the colour of your eyes (the opposite on the color wheel). For example, if you have green eyes, use burnt orange shades to draw attention to the area. Be careful to apply it to the edges of your eye, and not the entire eyelid. Blend well with a lighter color. - Resist the urge to use black or very dark eyeliner or eyeshadow as this will tend to overpower your eyes and make them seem to disappear into the darkness. Use light colors, especially those with a slight shimmer, to create a sense of space and light on your face. - If you have dark circles under your eyes, use a well-chosen concealer beneath your foundation. This will again remove any darkness around your eye, and give it a larger appearance. - Open up your eyes even more by curling your lashes and applying a light layer of mascara. Marketing Your Direct Sales Business

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

By Bethany Hizer Marketing your direct sales business is one of the most important steps to success. After all, if you don’t have customers, you don’t make any money. I’ve provided a few proven ideas that I’ve used to market my Passion Parties business and hope that you’ll have success following these same ideas. Unfortunately, some of the most effective direct sales marketing methods also take the most time. However, these are all ideas that I’ve used to achieve great results. Postcards to Friends/Family - One of the easiest and most productive marketing concepts is to identify your core group of friends and business relations. Make a list of 100 people that might be interested in your new business venture then send a quick postcard to each one. At first, you’re not trying to sell anything, you just want to let everyone know you begun a new business. Then, when you come into contact with these people over the next few weeks you can follow up. Asking “Did you get my postcard last week?” is a great way to follow up without sounding pushy. Flyers - Perhaps you’ve seen pamphlets or flyers at the local supermarket or retail store. Most of these advertise vehicles or other items for sales. But, I’ve had some success by creating flyers with tear-off “discount” stickers that can be used when booking one of my parties. For instance, create a flyer with 10 tear-off tabs offering 10% off the purchase of any item. Many people are enticed by these discount offers. Business Cards - There are still a few situations where the handing out of business cards can be a great way to supplement your business. If you’re like most people you probably meet a lot of people during the week with which you’re unfamiliar. Waiters and waitresses, retail store employees, fast food workers, and other people of a similar job responsibility are excellent sources for both business leads and potential recruiting efforts. Why are these people such great leads? 1. Business Leads - These people often come into contact with thousands of individuals during the day. If you were able to strike up a friendship you might be able to use your new friend as a potential recruiting tool for your business. Have him or her hand out your business cards to customers they’re friendly with. Or, just place a table-top card holder next to the register and let the customers help themselves. 2. Recruiting - Many people in the food and retail industry enjoy working with people and are often looking for ways to make a little extra money. This is because, unfortunately, the reimbursement rate for their services rarely matches their amount of work and responsibility. Suggest that the individual call you to discuss how they could increase their monthly income or possibly even replace their current job. Remember, every person you come into contact with is a potential client or recruit. Hand out your business cards as if they were tickets to future success and sell the opportunity with your confidence. In no time, your phone will be ringing off the hook with interested people. As you can see, it takes time to build a profitable marketing program. However, by using the methods I’ve provided I’m certain that you’ll have a successful direct sales business in no time. Coin Collector or Coin Dealer? Look No Further Than Here!

Tuesday, September 25th, 2007

By Stephanie Tuia Your grandpa has saved a vintage rookie card of a legendary baseball star. Your mother has collected all of the Beatles records and your aunt has collected stamps from every country shes ever visited. Can you recall that ideal collectible you use to treasure as a child? Remember the Beanie Babies, the Cabbage Patch Kids, or the G.I. Joe figures? Those collectibles may today, stand as a childhood keepsake and something that youll treasure for the rest of your life. Along with these childhood collectibles, comes a timeless collectible that is treasured by all ages-the coin. Whether the coins come from our homeland or foreign countries, are old or are new, the varieties of coin collections seem to be as endless as the amount of coins that are being circulated. On a more realistic note, just consider how diverse a coin collector could specialize in. Foreign coins: For the frequent traveler, collecting foreign coins will be easy for this type of collector. For those who dont get the chance to travel much, foreign coins can still be obtained by visiting a coin auction or through networking with fellow coin collectors. For the foreign coin collector, one obvious reason behind the intrigue of collecting these types of coins will certainly not be for its monetary value. For instance, a coin from Canada or England would not be valued in the U.S., and vice versa. Its true value lies in its rarity in any other country other than its own In addition to adding on to a collection of foreign coins, bringing home a foreign coin also bring back a memory or two about that relaxing vacation you took out of the country. Coins by year: Have you ever come across a penny from 1969 and noticed how old and rather dull it appears, in contrast to a brand new penny thats shiny and smooth? Collectors of these types of coins take fascination to collecting coins by year, often observing the physical survival and changes a coin has evolved into. A clear example comes with the wheat penny, a type of coin made from 1909-1958. Before our current penny that features the Lincoln Memorial, the wheat penny design is instead, distinguished with two ears of corn, surrounding ONE CENT in big bold print. Phased out over time, the rare wheat pennies have not been made for almost 50 years. For that, the wheat penny stands as a valuable collectible to coin collectors. Commemorative Coins: Starting in 1999, five American quarters per year have circulated, dedicated to one of the 50 states in the nation. Coins that marked a significant period in time or are dedicated to a specified state, these types prove to be very popular among coin collectors. More recently, the American nickel surfaced with a celebration designed to honor the 200th anniversaries of the Louisiana Purchase. Also, in December 2005, the United States Mint introduced a new line of 24-karat gold coins. Known as the American Buffalo Gold Coin, this collectors item is dedicated to the nations rich Native American history. The design of this commemorative gold coin is modeled much like the American penny and quarters. Yet this gold coin depicts a Native American mans profile, and a bison featured on the coins reverse side. Whether it is the famous American Buffalo coin you are searching for, a certain type of rare gold coin youve always wanted, or simply that classic wheat penny from decades ago, coin collections will always remain a favorite and popular type of collection among the various things that people value. Chelation and Clathration

Sunday, September 23rd, 2007

By Ray Smith Chelating is the process of removing toxic materials, metals and minerals from the body by use of certain chelating agents. These are substances that bond with the toxic materials resulting in capsulation of those toxic materials within the chelating agent that then flashes away through the natural excretory process of cleaning the body waste. Arterial Plaque is one of the most commonly identified toxin. This needs to be removed in order to avoid the arteries from being plagued and this also ensures a great cardio-vascular health. There are varieties of chelating agents being used today, some most common ones being Ethylene Diamine Tetra Acetic acid (EDTA), Dimercaptosuccinic acid (DMSA), Dimercaptopropane Sulfonate (DMPS) that are mostly applied intravenously. The chelate attaches itself with the toxins by means of reversible ionic bond. With that bond intact the toxin is pulled out and passed through the digestive and excretory system to out of the body. However, in this process the toxin is not neutralized and there is every possibility that in its way out the toxin will attach other cells. This process of chelation is also not always full proof when it comes to removing heavy metals from the cells. Besides, using conventional chelation process also exposes you to the risk of some important and required metals being removed from your body in the process of cleaning up. Clathration is a unique solution to chelation that comes without any of the above disadvantages. In this process, the clatharaing substance like PCA-Rx is given orally and it forms a three dimensional matrix around the toxin materials, completely enclosing it in a capsule, thereby effectively neutralizing it and preventing it from coming in contact with any other body tissues and then it is flushed out of the body. With clathration there is no chance of re-infecting the body cells with the toxins while they are flushed out. At the same time clathration agents like PCA-Rx are extremely effective in removing heavy metals poisoning like lead or mercury. Clathration is the new age solution for chelation and metal poisoning. To know more about clathration and PCA-Rx visit Chelation. The Academic Elite

By Nikki Alfonso A group of eight old, distinguished colleges and universities in the East, known for their ivy-covered brick buildings. - from Answers.com Brown University. Columbia University. Cornell University. Dartmouth College. Harvard University. Princeton University. University of Pennsylvania. Yale University. For those seeking to pursue an education in some of the most prestigious universities in the United States, set their sights on these eight schools fondly referred to as The Ivy League. How did the Ivy League get its name? Ive actually come upon two explanations for this question. One states that the group coined its name from the ivy that grows in the eight universities brick buildings; while the other story stated that when an athletic league was formed by Harvard, Yale, Columbia and Princeton (the Four League), the Roman numeral IV was used in the said league - which when spoken became Ivy League. No matter the etymology of the said term, there are certain characteristics these eight academic institutions have in common that make them eight of the most esteemed universities in the country : (*taken from Wikipedia) All of the Ivy League institutions share some general characteristics : (a) They are among the most prestigious and selective schools in the U.S., they consistently place close to the top of college and university rankings. (b) They rank within the top one percent of the worlds academic institutions in terms of financial endowment. (c) They attract top-tier students and faculty. (d) They have relatively small undergraduate populations, ranging between 4,078 for Dartmouth College and 13,700 for Cornell University and modestly sized graduate student populations, ranging between 1,666 for Dartmouth and 14,692 for Columbia. Also worthy of being noted down : (a) Seven of the eight schools were founded during Americas colonial period with the exception of Cornell, which was founded in 1865. Ivy League institutions, therefore, account for seven of the nine colleges chartered before the American Revolution. (b) The Ivies also are all located in the Northeast region of the United States and are privately owned and controlled. (c) Although many of them receive funding from the federal or state governments to pursue research, only Cornell has state-supported academic units, termed statutory colleges, that are an integral part of the institution. Though the term is being used rather loosely nowadays, to be a true Ivy Leaguer means being part of an academic institution which is known around the globe for its academic excellence, admission selectivity and academic elitism. Sensitive Skin - How to Take Care of Sensitive Skin, Naturally

Friday, September 21st, 2007

By Danny Siegenthaler Sufferers of sensitive skin do not have to go without make-up or skin care products. On the contrary, a good quality natural skin care regime will help to reduce the sensitivity over time and will promote healthy, vibrant looking skin. There are a number of symptoms which may help you to identify whether or not you have sensitive skin (should you be in any doubt): Your skin reacts quickly to both heat and cold; Sensitive skin burns easily, when exposed to wind or sun Skin is easily irritated by detergents, cosmetics and alcohol, leaving the skin red and blotchy, with visible surface veins. The key to normalise sensitive skin is to use a good quality, natural skin care system and follow a daily skin care regime. The following is a simple step-by-step process anyone with sensitive skin should follow: Two or three times a week use a deep cleansing mask specifically formulated for oily skin. Wildcrafteds Red Earth Medicine Facial Clay has been specifically formulated for dry and sensitive skin and includes ingredients such as Red Clay and Rose Hydrosol, which are beneficial in treating your sensitive skin. Wash your face no more than twice a day using a natural pH balanced cleanser. Wildcrafteds Hydrating Cleanser uses ingredients such as essential oils of Rose and Chamomile blended with Glycerine and Shea Nut Butter to cleanse, soothe and hydrate your sensitive skin. Use a toner that is appropriate for oily skin. Wildcrafteds Milk of Roses Toner makes use of Rose and Aloe Very to gently calm, hydrate and condition your sensitive skin prior to moisturising. Use a moisturiser designed specifically for dry and sensitive skin. Wildcrafteds Rose Day Crme contains wholesome oils like Almond, Olive and Jojoba oils in combination with essential oils of Sandalwood and Rose to revitalise the skin and soothes and softens irritated, sensitive skin. Use your natural skin care regime every single day. Ensure your diet is very high in nuts, grains and vegetables and very low in saturated fatty foods. Drink plenty of water each and every day to help keep your skin hydrated. The American Academy of Dermatology offers the following recommendations: Choose powder when possible. Powder cosmetics are not only great at removing shine, they have very few preservatives and contain few ingredients that can cause skin irritation compared with liquid makeup. Avoid waterproof cosmetics, which require a solvent to remove them. They also remove sebum, the oily substance made by the sebaceous glands in the skin. Without this oily barrier, sensitive skin is exposed to potential irritants that can cause a beauty breakout. Throw out old cosmetics. “Women should keep track of cosmetic expiration dates and throw out any items that have passed their peak,” cautions Dr. Bergamo. “Old makeup products can spoil or become contaminated. This is especially true for eye products, which should also be discarded if you experience any type of eye infection.” Typical life spans for cosmetic products include 1 year for foundation and lipstick, 3 to 4 months for mascara, and 2 years for powder and shadows. It also is important to wash makeup brushes and sponges regularly to remove accumulated dirt and germs that can aggravate sensitive skin. Use black-colored eyeliner and mascara products. Dermatologists feel that black is the least allergenic of all colorants used in eye products. Use pencil eyeliner and eyebrow fillers. According to Dr. Bergamo, “Pencil eyeliner and eyebrow pencils are wax-based and contain pigment and minimal preservatives. They are much less likely to cause problems than liquid eyeliners that contain latex, which may cause a reaction in latex-sensitive individuals. Stick to earth-toned eye shadows. Lighter earth tones, such as tan, cream, white, or beige, seem to cause less upper-eyelid irritation. “The higher concentration of pigments in darker colors, such as navy blue, can cause an adverse reaction in women with sensitive skin,” Dr. Bergamo speculates. Check sunscreen ingredients. Dermatologists recommend daily use of a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a sun protection factor 15 or higher. For women with sensitive skin, sunscreen should contain only the physical sunscreen ingredients zinc oxide or titanium dioxide. Unlike chemical sunscreens that absorb ultraviolet rays, physical sunscreen ingredients deflect the rays rather than absorb them. Use products that contain no more than 10 ingredients. The fewer ingredients in a product, the less likely it is to cause a problem. Avoid nail polishes. Wet nail polish can be transferred to a person’s eyes and face before it dries. This casual transfer can cause problems for women with sensitive skin or allergies to any of the components of the polish. Use foundations with a silicone base. Although powder is preferred to protect sensitive skin, women choosing a liquid foundation should look for one with a silicone base. Liquid facial foundations based on silicone do not cause acne, and silicone has a low incidence of skin irritation. Want To Lose Weight?

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

By D. S. Epperson So, here we are at the beginning of the I’m going to lose weight or I’m going to be healthy season again. In America, we sit in the most obese of all country’s, and we have the most diet foods available than any other. If we have more resources than any one else to fight this condition, then why are we so fat? First of all, we drive everywhere! 2 blocks, we are getting in the car to go there. No one here walks anywhere any more, and if you do, people look at you strange. In this little Idaho town we live in, our local grocery store is 6 blocks away. My husband and I regularly walk to the grocery store, or to the hardware store (8 blocks), to the park (3 blocks) or we just walk around the town (2.6 miles) just for exercise and if we need something, we stop into the stores and carry it home. People use to ask us all the time, Oh, is your car broken? Do you need a ride? No, we are just out walking! My kids just think I’m mean when they say, Mom, can I go to (a variety store)? Can you take me?…No, it’s only a few block, you can walk! What is the objection to walking! People like to be seen at the gym, I know ’cause I see all these fancy women paying big bucks for workout clothes and paying lots of money for memberships so they can be seen, but if your not that vain or self centered, or you just don’t have the money for all the extra stuff, try walking for the everyday stuff. Park the car in the parking lot you don’t have to pay for, get a little luggage cart, and start doing your shopping by walking, you’ll notice better deals in store windows, you’ll relieve stress and you’ll conserve gas, saving you money. The other advantage is, if you go shopping with friends, you have a lot more time to talk and develop a better relationship with them. We need to teach our kids that walking isn’t a poor sport, it’s not something for old people in the mall…walking is natural, simple and healthy and they can do it too. America, in this coming Weight Loss season, do something cheap, something easy, something environmental, something healthy….START WALKING! D.S. Going Full Time in Graduate School: Benefits Galore

Sunday, September 16th, 2007

By Amber C. Smith The number one reason to go full time in graduate school is to get your program finished more quickly. Many people manage to balance both full-time school and full-time jobs with relative ease, particularly if they’re taking online classes. Different than Undergrad In graduate school, full time is only 9 hours in comparison to the 12 hours required for an undergraduate degree. Most classes will be three hour classes, so at 9 hours that means you’re only taking three classes a semester. If you can fit one of those in six Saturdays or online, then you will only have to go to class a couple of nights a week. Finish Sooner By going to graduate school full time, you will be able to finish in half the time. The sooner you finish, the sooner you can get that big raise and be out of school, at least for another few years. Even balancing 12 hours a semester with a full time job is possible, especially if you’re single and don’t have kids to worry about. Though there will be times when you’re burned out from the load, finishing earlier often outweighs the frustration of these times. Save Money By going full-time in graduate school, you will be a better candidate for a graduate assistantship or scholarship. Most of the time these are held for full-time students only, so going full time may prove beneficial if it allows you to save several thousand dollars a semester. Make More Money After getting your graduate degree, you will substantially increase your earning power. Although it might seem smart to work at a low paying job and go only part-time, you will probably lose money this way through student loan interest rates and loss of after school years when you could make a significantly larger amount of money. A Note on Online Degrees If you’re seeking a degree from an online school, you have even more reason to go full-time. Number one, there’s a good chance your company may be paying for you to go to school. Number two, online classes only last six weeks at a time, so you can easily finish more hours in one semester with less stress in an online degree program. There’s just something more exciting and less stressful about ending a class and starting a new one every six weeks. Most students of online degree programs experience less burnout since they don’t have to deal with the same teachers and groups for sixteen weeks at a time. What a relief it would be to have fun in a class for a few weeks, start a new experience, and still finish school early by going full-time. Going Full Time in Graduate School: The Benefits Here’s the rundown of the four major benefits of going full time in graduate school. Consider them before making your choice. Going full time is much easier than it may seem at first, and from experience, I know it’s not only possible but practical as well. “I Just Took The Hamburger More Seriously Than Anyone Else” -Ray Kroc

Saturday, September 15th, 2007

By Dr. Gary S. Goodman I was rereading one of my favorite business books the other day and I happened upon a quote of McDonalds guru, Ray Kroc: I didnt invent the hamburger. I just took it more seriously than anyone else. I love that line. Kroc, as you may know didnt invent McDonalds, either. He invented the MODERN McDonalds; the one you and I know, and have probably frequented a hundred or more times in our lives. The McDonald brothers, of San Bernardino, California, invented what was then a breakthrough for a fast food drive-in. Krocs work represents a watershed not only in fast food marketing, but also in systematizing service work. And I have been a beneficiary of his wisdom, quite a direct beneficiary, at that. When I was seventeen, I worked for an experimental unit of McDonalds, called Ramonds. This is pronounced exactly as you would Mr. Krocs first name, Raymond, except the emphasis is on the second syllable. We tested new menu items, such as roast beef, and different pricing and dcor changes. And Ramonds units were not drive-ins or drive-throughs. They were like todays urban McDonalds units, on the first floors of office buildings. Anyway, whats important is how seriously we were all taught to take cleanliness, service, and being systematic. Everything we did was operationalized. When do you flip a burger? When a little ring forms around the outside portion of a cooking patty. I could go on. What Ray Kroc did with food Ive tried to do, obviously in a more modest manner, with customer service and sales work: to make them highly achieving and idiot proof. After all, to impress a seventeen year old, get him to work his tail off, teach him the value of discipline, cleanliness, service, and systems, well, thats nothing less than a huge achievement. Millions and millions of employees, worldwide, got their start under the the Golden Arches, and we have benefited immeasurably because one fellow simply took the hamburger more seriously than anyone else! Dr. Gary S. Goodman, President of Customersatisfaction.com, is a popular keynote speaker, management consultant, and seminar leader and the best-selling author of 12 books, including Reach Out & Sell Someone and Monitoring, Measuring & Managing Customer Service, and the audio program, The Law of Large Numbers: How To Make Success Inevitable, published by Nightingale-Conant. He is a frequent guest on radio and television, worldwide. A Ph.D. from USC’s Annenberg School, a Loyola lawyer, and an MBA from the Peter F. Drucker School at Claremont Graduate University, Gary offers programs through UCLA Extension and numerous universities, trade associations, and other organizations from Santa Monica to South Africa.
